Text Twist round mechanics
Each round gives you six letters (seven in some versions) and a two-and-a-half minute timer. You score points by forming as many valid 3-letter, 4-letter, 5-letter and 6-letter words as possible from those tiles. To advance to the next round, you must find at least one word that uses every letter — the "full anagram".
The tile scramble refreshes each round. Miss a round and the game ends; find the full anagram and you carry the round's score forward.
Full-anagram-first strategy
The biggest mistake new players make is rattling off 3-letter words early to feel productive, then running out of time before spotting the essential 6- or 7-letter answer. Reverse that habit — spend the first 30 seconds hunting the full anagram, then use the remaining time to farm shorter words for bonus points.
The solver above shows the full anagram at the top of the list (longest first). Memorise the visual shape of common power racks — AEINRST, AEILRST, AEGINRS — and you'll spot them faster in-game without needing the solver.
Common Text Twist power racks
- ATERSIN / ANESTRI — six 7-letter anagrams (RETAINS, RETINAS, RATINES, STAINER, STEARIN, NASTIER).
- REALIST / RETAILS — AEILRST unlocks REALIST, RETAILS, SALTIER, SALTIRE, SLATIER, TAILERS.
- EDITORS / STORIED — DEIORST gives EDITORS, SORTIED, STEROID, STORIED, TRIODES.
- ORIENTS / STONIER — EINORST gives NORITES, OESTRIN, ORIENTS, STONIER.
Farming short-word points
Once the full anagram is locked in, every 3-letter word from your tile pool is easy points. Common fill: ARE, ART, ATE, EAR, EAT, ERA, IRE, RAT, TAR, TEA, TIE. Cycle through vowel + consonant + vowel patterns first (E?R, A?T, I?N) — they're the most productive.
4-letter words are where most missed points live. Look for -ATE, -ANT, -INE, -ARE, -IRE, and -EST endings, and prefixes like RE-, IN-, EN-, DE-.
FAQs
How does Text Twist scoring work?
Longer words score more per letter. You must find at least one 6-letter word using every tile to advance to the next round; otherwise the round ends when the timer runs out.
Do I need every 3-letter word?
No. The game only requires one full-length word to advance. Extra words earn points and pad your total, but they aren't mandatory.
Why isn't a word I typed accepted in-game?
Text Twist uses its own dictionary. A handful of obscure entries in our list may not appear in the game; if the game rejects a word, that's the source of truth.
Is there a difference between Text Twist 1 and 2?
Text Twist 2 adds themed word packs, a crossword-style bonus board and daily challenges, but the core round mechanic is identical.
Can I use this for other subset-anagram games?
Yes — Word Slice, Bookworm Adventures, Wordament, and any game where you make as many words as possible from a fixed letter pool.
