Content Standards

Last updated: June 25, 2026

This page describes how content on WordUnscramble.uk is created, reviewed, and kept accurate. It applies to every guide, word list, and reference article on the site.

How content is created

Every article starts from a real player question — for example, "which two-letter words are valid in Scrabble?" or "how do I clear a Q rack?". Candidate answers are generated directly from the same dictionary engine that powers the unscrambler, then written up with clear headings, worked examples, and links to further reading.

How articles are reviewed

Before publication, each article is checked for factual accuracy, spelling, and clarity. Every claim must be traceable to the ENABLE word list, a published dictionary, or another named public source. Word lists and examples are regenerated from the live dictionary rather than copy-pasted, so they cannot drift out of sync.

AI-assisted writing disclosure

AI tools may be used to outline, draft, or summarise articles. No AI output is published without a human review pass that verifies every word list, example, and factual claim against the dictionary sources listed below.

Accuracy commitment

  • The unscrambler never invents words. Every result is drawn from a documented English word list.
  • Claims that only hold in a specific game dictionary (for example TWL vs SOWPODS) are labelled where they appear.
  • Content is written to help real players — not to game search engines.

Corrections policy

If you spot a mistake — an incorrect word, a broken example, or an outdated rule — email contactus@wordunscramble.uk. Corrections are typically actioned within 2–3 working days. Substantive corrections are noted on the affected page along with a revised date.

Dictionary sources

All results and word lists on WordUnscramble.uk are checked against the following public sources:

  • ENABLE English word list — the primary bundled dictionary (~170,000 entries), an open, public-domain list widely used in reference word-game implementations. Background: Moby Project (Wikipedia).
  • TWL (Tournament Word List) — the competitive Scrabble lexicon used in North America and Thailand. Referenced by name; not redistributed.
  • SOWPODS / Collins Scrabble Words — the competitive Scrabble lexicon used elsewhere. Referenced by name; not redistributed.
  • Merriam-Webstermerriam-webster.com
  • Collins English Dictionarycollinsdictionary.com
  • Oxford English Dictionaryoed.com
  • Wiktionaryen.wiktionary.org

Update process

Guides and reference articles are re-checked at least once every 12 months, and sooner when a game rule, dictionary update, or reader correction requires it. The bundled ENABLE word list is verified against its upstream checksum on every release; any additions or removals are logged.
