This Privacy Policy describes how wordunscramble.uk ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website (the "Service"). It is written to meet our obligations under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data controller

wordunscramble.uk is an independently operated website, and its owner is the data controller for personal data processed through it. The controller is based in the United Kingdom; the controller's name and postal address are available on request. Information we collect

The unscrambler and other tools run in your browser. Letters you type are processed locally and are not sent to or stored on our servers. We do not require an account and do not collect names, emails, or payment details.

Like most websites we receive standard server-log information automatically (IP address, browser type, referring page, timestamps) for security and abuse prevention. We also store small preferences (such as your cookie choice and any saved settings) in your browser's local storage; this data stays on your device.

Lawful bases (UK GDPR Article 6)

  • Legitimate interests — running, securing and improving the Service (server logs, abuse prevention, essential site functionality).
  • Consent — non-essential cookies, personalised advertising, and analytics. You give consent via the cookie banner and can withdraw it at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the site footer.

Retention

Server-log entries are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention, then deleted or anonymised. Cookie-consent choices remain in your browser until you clear them or use Cookie Settings to change your choice. These tools set cookies only after you click Accept in our cookie banner. If you click Reject, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google or Microsoft. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookie Settings link in the site footer.

Third-party processors

International transfers

The processors listed above are global providers and may process personal data outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers are made under the UK government's adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with the safeguards described in each provider's own privacy documentation linked above. Children

The Service is suitable for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
