- Once the rack is set the 30-second clock starts. Type the longest word you can build using each letter at most once.
- Submit before the clock runs out. You score one point per letter, with a double bonus (18 pts) for a nine-letter word.
Frequently asked questions
How is Letters Round different from the classic TV letters round?
The rules are the same: nine letters chosen as vowels or consonants, one 30-second round, the longest valid word wins. Letters Round is a free online tribute — it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by the TV show it takes inspiration from.
Which dictionary do you use?
Every submitted word is checked against the same 172,000-plus word dictionary we use across the site, which covers standard English plus the words accepted in tournament Scrabble.
Why is my longest word not the same as the one the site found?
The solver checks every combination of your nine letters against the dictionary in under a second — humans can't. Use the reveal to learn new roots, prefixes and suffixes, and you'll spot longer words in the next round.
